4 Artists We're Inspired by (right now!)
We're checking out artists everyday. Seriously. And some artists we find ourselves going back to, regularly. We wanted to highlight four of those artists. The four artists that we find ourselves anxiously awaiting each post on instagram or tumblr, etc right now. Here they be:
1. Samuel Larson @samlarson
Sam is the Art Director for @MacbethFootwear, the genius behind steelbison.com, and the man at samuellarson.tumblr.com. We love his style, and NOT just because of his frequent Western themes and the fact that our headquarters is nestled in the west. He's all about vintage. About well-worn texture. He's got a hands-on, feel-good style... like if Fonzy rocked handmade wooden sunglasses, wore the same jeans and t-shirt for 20 years and smelt like a combination of Drakkar and your grandpa's work shed. "Hashtag sexy." Check him out.
2. McKay Felt @mckayfelt
McKay is amazing. Give him a pen, a sharpie, a crayon, a rusty nail, or a hippo tooth dipped in blood and watch what he creates. Magic on paper. Not just any magic, though. We're talking about Mona Lisa and Harry Potter had a child named McKay Felt, he was delivered on a mechanical flying carpet to his worldly parents and was injected with the creative juices of Michelangelo's saliva. His illustrations are some of the most intricately detailed pieces. There's also a supernatural, "ghostly-hipster" aura to it. You gotta love it. Check him out at mckayfelt.tumblr.com as well as our shop to see some of the notebooks and journals we've done with him.
3. Angeliki Jackson @astrodub
Angeliki Jackson, aka Astrodub is what you get when you give an iphone and instagram to a majestic mermaid with a crystal ball for fantastic photography (mermaid? Yes, they're mysterious). She captures art from her everyday life, whether it's the walls she walks past, or the ground under her feet, she notices it. And she shares it with her followers. It makes you want to literally follow her as she navigates New York. Hop on the bus with her, hold her hand (or fin?), and check out the cool contrast of the fall leaves against a quiet bridge. Please take us there. You can see more from her at astrodub.com.
4. Nathan Yoder @nathanyoder
This guy is a treasure chest of creative gems. Nathan dominates our type dreams right now. He swoops through the night with his inked up sword and churns out whimsical designs for Sevenly on the daily. He's like the three musketeers if they were wrapped up in one artist and mentored by Chuck Norris. Karate chop, side swipe, here's a design worth a million bucks. We think he has the ability to stop time and continue drawing while the world sleeps. We want his life on a tshirt (maybe a journal, too). Check him out at nathanyoder.tumblr.com and fulfill a life's goal of seeing some of the raddest stuff out there.
